Man Kills Shark With Bare Hands

TEHRAN A 32-year-old man became a hero when he captured a 1.7-meter (5-foot-six-inch) blue shark after knocking it out while he was swimming a few meters off the popular Ipanema beach, Brazil. AFP quoted the newspaper while putting Jose Nilso Goncalves on the front page Saturday, with quarter-page photos showing him triumphantly holding a enormous dead shark. Goncalves saw the 45-kilo (100-pound) shark swimming behind the waves, terrorizing swimmers and surfers at the beach, when he decided to jump in the water and kill the animal.

He punched the shark barehanded in the water, and kept hitting it until he finally knocked it out and killed it on the beach. It was unclear exactly how Goncalves managed to kill the shark, but a witness told the newspapers he saw it happen.
